With a population of 76,923,300, Iran is a very populous country (CIA). But the story of Iran's population is long, Starting in ancient times. Iran's settlement and small villages date back to about 4000 B.C, before being united as an Empire in 725 BC, under the Medes (Wikipedia).
However, in 549 B.C, Persia was reunited under Cyrus the Great in the Achaemenid Empire. It was a time of great prosperity; arts and sciences were studied, people lived great, full lives. Cyrus was one of the first kings to ever create a declaration of human rights (All Wikipedia).

- Iran's 3rd largest city is Isfahan. Isfahan has a population of 1,853,609 and is located 340 km South of Tehran. Isfahan was the Iranian Capital during the Safavid Dynasty. It is famous for it's many beautiful sites and buildings. Isfahan has many historical monuments, including Khaju Bridge. Isfahan is the centre of Persian carpet production in Iran (All Wikipedia).
